Now THIS is Dallas

A new movie is being made about Dallas. The REAL Dallas…

Ok, well, it’s a relatively minor segment of the population, but if they don’t just seem to ooze out of Uptown, I don’t know who does…My one concern with the film is that it is focusing on the male version, when I seemed to see the female version much more frequently. The purse is a rental, the car is a lease, the clothes still have tags on them, they vacation in Napa, and the credit card is about to explode…Who do YOU see more often?

  1. Seems to me that the dude version is more common. Probably just a matter of perspective, though.

I think I might have to blog about this topic…

  2. Just started blogging and found your site after searching for Dallas. I enjoyed your last 20 or so posts. 🙂

    I’ll read more later.

  3. Well, I live closer to Fort Worth, so we have fake cowboys. There’s no better equalizer than a Stetson and a pair of Justins, because no matter how much you make (or fake), it all looks the same.

  4. Concept is definitely true to the area…but it’s a toss up on who you see more of. I’d almost say for leased cars/”toys” is men and personal appearance stuff the women, but who knows.

TX T-bone’s nailed it with the cowboys on this side of the Trinity. But you can always smell the fake cowboys. The difference in a fake vs. real cowboy is way obvious.

  5. Lived all my adult life there and know the movers and shakers of the 80’s and 90’s well. Max Goldblatt was a dear friend, City Council is still an embarrassment and Laura Miller never delivered. The City has a great night life and Emerald City Band is oneof the best regional bands in the country. But fake millionaires were worse when the economy collapsed in 1986. THen the city became more humble. But yeah, many good points. THe worst is road rage and egos. But that’s part of any big thriving city. Hope you enjoy living there. I needed a change of scenery.
