So I am contemplating packing up and moving to Chicago already. Just doing it. Sell my house, get up there, get a place, find a job waiting tables and do that until I can find a real job (not to offend any service industry folks…you know what I mean…). It seems finding a job without a Chicago address is like finding the sock the dryer ate. You know it has to be there, but the obstacles imposed seem insurmountable.
I am just so ready to get out here and start my new life.
Any of you ever done something impulsive like that? Move without a job? Change your whole life? I cannot tell you how tempted I am.

I’m still alive…I promise! It’s been a busy couple of months around here with the business problems we’ve been having. We actually moved all manufacturing to Mexico last week. Whew! What a week! I don’t recommend it. But it will let the company survive, and will probably be much more profitable.
In happier news, today is my birthday! I turn the big 2-8. I’m an old lady!
In OTHER news, did I mention I am going to move? Yup! I am trying to find a job in Chicago. I decided that was the place to go! On Friday, I had a second interview for a potentially awesome job. I can’t wait to get all of this moving and new job stuff underway. The sooner the better! I am really looking forward to the new challenge. If any of you have any Chicago connections that might help in a job search, don’t hesitate to let me know!

Here are some pretty pictures of a rose bouquet I made from supermarket roses and those crazy green mums. Just thought I’d share because I like how it came out!

I Will:
- Get married before the start of football season
- Hold the reception in an UberSwanky facility
- Play Big Band era music during dinner
- Be sure the bartenders don’t put out a tip jar at the reception (TACKY! They should get tipped by the person who hired them!)
I Won’t:
- Hold my wedding on a UT Longhorn football game day (or any other football game day, or any major final championship day–i.e. Game 7 of the World Series, championship game of March Madness, etc.)
- Hold my reception in a nondescript ballroom that seems to have too many purposes
- Have my wedding on a major holiday weekend, effectively hijacking my guests’ vacation time
- Have an engagement party, three showers and a bachelorette party that overlap guest lists (particularly if I get married over thirty).
And finally, I will be sure to not have my wedding on a UT Longhorn football game day…oh, did I already mention that one? Yeah, I am really serious about that…
Hook ‘Em Horns! So glad to have you back in my life!
What would you do or not do at your wedding (or DID you do)?
