I Wish You All This Kind of Love
February 27, 2007 · Leave a Comment
I have written before about my friend Tricia. She is my best friend from first grade and one of the people I admire most in life. Most recently, I told you about her pregnancy with twin boys!! And her mother’s battle with cancer. She has also learned that one of her boys has a heart condition that willl require three surgeries before he is two. If all goes well, he should be a happy healthy boy after that, but the next two and a half years will be a trying time for them.
I just received an e-mail from one of Tricia’s friends, and thought it was so wonderful that I wanted to post it here. We should all be so lucky to have a friend who is so special that this is the sort of love they are given in return.
Dear Friend of Tricia and Scott:
Last Saturday a couple of us went to Scott and Tricia’s home to share our support as they focus on the growth and strength of their twin boys. Having experienced the love shared by Tricia and Scott and having received their love, a couple of us wanted to do something for them in addition to our prayers for strong hearts and loads of love for their children.
We presented them with a bright heart container and told them it will be full of blessings from others. This is where you come in. Over the next 20 weeks of their pregnancy, send them cards to let them know you are thinking of their family and sending prayers and blessings of health and love.
Won’t it be wonderful for Tricia and Scott to look back over the cards of love when the twins walk off to kindergarten? Drive off on their first date? Walk across the high school graduation stage?
I hope you will partake in filling the heart container with your sentiments of love.
Many thanks,
Becky

The Ectoplasma Saloon…errr…Ghostbar.

Well I didn’t have the time I thought I did yesterday, so I will give you the condensed version of my weekend.
Friday, we went Cuba Libre, a cuban restaurant and bar for my friend Sarah’s going away party (because she totally sucks and is moving to El Paso to do something called “working!” Ha! Sucker!) That was was a rather uneventful night. Fun and pleasant but uneventful.
Saturday however, was a completely different story. Saturday evening I went to a wedding shower for a friend. It was held at her aunt’s home in Lakewood. Lakewood is a gorgeous part of Dallas. Large stately homes that look much more suited to the Northeast than the Southern Plains.
It is also just a hop, skip, and a jump from downtown…Where the Ghostbar is. (more…)

I just wanted to say how much I LOVED the dresses last night at the Academy Awards! Holy Toledo! They were fabulous! There wasn’t a single person that made me cringe. I cannot wait to see the tabloids’ worst dressed list, because it is going to be really short this year!
I would also like to point out how covering the dresses were. Lots of high necklines. I thought that was interesting.
I had heck of a weekend, and lots to say, but not time to say it now. Maybe at lunchtime.

Masthead Master
February 22, 2007 · 1 Comment
Anyone know how to make the masthead at top of my page clearer? It has a slight blur. It doesn’t have that blur in PhotoShop. I am assuming there is a particular file type that is better suited for the web? Or maybe I need to hit the “save for web” button PhotoShop?? But then if I “save for web” what do I need to set the settings to? There are a lot of settings!! I would be totally indebted to you if you know what to do!
Febreeze Is The Bastard Child of Super Man and She-Ra

In the news today…Did you notice that tiny little smiley face in the upper right hand corner or my blog?? Cause, uh, huh??
In other news, On Fat Tuesday, my friends and I visited a local watering hole for a few luscious beverages. I wore a pair of jeans for the three hour endeavor.
This morning, I decided I needed to wear THAT pair of jeans to work (because we are all casual like that) but when I picked them up (they MAY have been on the floor of my room laying across the suitcase that has been sitting there for Ohhh, two weeks…) I realized they reeked of stale smoke. No problem, I thought! I have Febreeze! Febreeze to the rescue!!
I am now sitting in my office with cartoon skunk stink swirls rolling off my lap and directly to my nose, full of stale smoke AND Febreeze. It’s yummy.
Note to Self: You are no longer allowed to shortcut with the Febreeze.
Welcome!

Help With Migrating!
February 21, 2007 · Leave a Comment
I just heard back from my blog template designer about making all the changes necessary to update my template to the new Blogger settings (which then allows me to get HaloScan to handle my comments) and they said it would be $75 an hour for 2 hours work. Hmm. It didn’t cost me that much to have the the whole thing made from scratch! So now I am thinking of moving to WordPress. I don’t want to spend money on hosting my site, so WordPress is the obvious other choice, but as any of you know from migrating a blog, it is a big decision. So this is where I ask, what can you all tell me about WordPress? If you use it, do you like it? If you used to use it, why don’t you any more? If you’ve thought about using it but changed your mind, why? Will I still be able to use my snazzy blog design on WordPress? Please help me out. I want to make my blog as accessible as possible while still still maintaining it’s prettiness!

I have a couple photo shoots coming up, so I am finally getting around to making Moo Cards to use as business cards. So to do that, I uploaded my favorite portraits from the lasts few months to use on the front of the cards. I think it will work out to about 2 cards of each picture, which will be a lot of fun when I hand someone four or five cards to give to friends. Each card will have a different picture, which I just love the idea of.
I thought you all might want to see the photos I chose, so here is a link to the photo set on Flickr.
Also, if you particularly like one pose or another, let me know on the Flickr comments. I would love to know which poses strike a cord with people for future photo shoots.
